Dr. Randall Mims has been an active member of the community and is a member of the Okeechobee Masonic Lodge and the Amara Shrine Temple and has served as President of the Okeechobee Shrine Club for two year. He has previously served on the Board of Directors of the Okeechobee Cattlemen’s Association and has volunteered to be Rodeo Veterinarian for several years. Randall is a past President of the Okeechobee Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation. Dr. Mims is also a member of numerous professional organizations. Dr. Mims served as the Vice President of the Okeechobee FFA Alumni Association for three years and is a member of the Okeechobee Chamber of Commerce and the Okeechobee Main Street Organization.
He has sponsored many organizations including the Okeechobee Youth Livestock Show and Sale, Okeechobee County Recreation Association Youth Baseball, Youth Soccer Teams and Adult Softball Teams, Okeechobee FFA and 4-H Clubs, Okeechobee County Fair Association Horse Shows and many more. Randall is married to longtime Okeechobee resident, Renée. Randall and Renée have one son, Wesley.

Upon graduation, Randall moved to Pond Creek, Oklahoma, to complete his internship. In 1981, Randall returned to Okeechobee and opened Mims Veterinary Hospital, a large and small animal hospital, located at 275 SW 32nd Street.
Dr. Randall Mims moved to Okeechobee at a young age. Randall attended school in Okeechobee until High School graduation. He attended Indian River Community College and Florida State University in preparation for Vet School. He was accepted to the College of Veterinary Medicine at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama and in 1978 he graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree.
If your children participate in FFA and 4H clubs and have show cattle, we can provide health certificates so that they can show their cattle in events. Health certificates are provided at no charge for local events to encourage kids to learn about and participate in agriculture.
Dr. Mims spoke to the Rotary Club of Okeechobee about the Shriner's Hospitals for Children and the care that they offer to children and families in need. Mrs. Kristy Crawford thanked him for sharing his information with the club.
